Antique Flamed Mahogany Pedestal From Princess Diana's Family Home Spencer House
Royal house antiques is delighted to offer for sale this sublime antique William IV circa 1830 Flamed Mahogany Pedestal stand with small coat rail from Princess Diana Spencer's London family home Spencer House. I have various pieces from the last Spencer house sale, which is still owned by Lady Diana Spencer's family, the history of the items is that Lord Rothschild in the 1980's leased the property, at that time the house was restored, the pieces furnished the offices, meeting rooms and the newly restored State rooms. Included with each listing is a picture of the piece in situs. The sale includes one original picture of the piece in situs at the Spencer house in The main office. This pedestal dates to 1830 and its flamed mahogany, it is by design a pedestal stand for displaying antiques like busts and so on, the inside top has a small modern little brass rail so you can hang coats inside.

This would have been in the house from way before Princess Diana's birth right up to 2022, the good lady as we know started dating Prince Charles around the age of 16 years old so chances are the princess would have walked passed this piece many times and may even used it to hang a jacket. Condition wise we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will be some age and use related patina marks here and there, mostly its in fine order. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. London's finest surviving 18th-century aristocratic palace, built for the first Earl Spencer. Spencer House was conceived as a'Temple of the Arts' for the entertainment of the political, social and cultural elite, and considered the most sumptuous private residence ever built in London.

Occupying a central space in the history of British architecture, the state rooms designed by John Vardy and James'Athenian' Stuart were among the first neo-classical interiors in Europe. The house contains a small but significant collection of Old Master paintings and 18th-century English furniture on long-term loan from the V&A and Temple Newsham, including original pieces designed by the architects and displayed in their 18th-century locations. Also on loan is an important group of five major historical paintings by Benjamin West from the Royal Collection Trust and important paintings and works from private and public collections including Tate, the Royal Academy, Royal Pavilion and Museums (Brighton and Hove) and the National Trust. Royal House Antiques is a privately owned family ran business founded in Wimbledon SW19 and now based in Pulborough RH20. Royal House Antiques cannot be held liable for any independent assumptions made regarding the items we sell, if you are unsure on any point, please feel free to ask for clarity. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
